L** called me after I posted via comparemymoves (they have now removed their listing from that comparison site, wonder why?), I told him it was a 3 bed house, he quoted £1695 + VAT. After realising I hadn’t sent him a video of all contents, or images of a few antique items I had bought, including a large mirror (I’ll come back to this later).

He didn’t change the quote and said “all should be fine”.

He told me they would pack on one day, load the next day, and move the following day… so a total of 3 days.

He then changed his mind and said he would pack and load on one day. I was fine with that.

They arrived, and packing started. Very fast. Seemed a bit chaotic.

L** proudly got one of his team to video the large mirror being loaded onto his vehicle (again, more on that mirror later).

During packing L** said there would be more boxes, in his email quote he states the average 3 bed house uses 70 to 80 boxes.

I wanted to know the increase in cost, L** texted me that night and said he was too shattered to quote and could be call me from the hotel the next night. I said yes.

However, after a very long drive and excitement etc and my phone having no signal, I didn’t speak to him.

The next morning I received a text from him asking where I was and he was at the house waiting for me. It was around 7.30am.

I had paid £500 deposit, and he stated on the phone that I owed him £2,542. That would take what I owed to £3k. Practically double what I was initially quoted.

On arrival at the house he spoke to me like a naughty school child, having not been in touch with him the night before.

I expressed my shock at the increase in price. He refused to offload the truck until I had paid the balance. I had to go to a neighbour to use her wifi as the bank wasn’t open at that time. I was extremely flustered and stressed, and I feel L** plays on this and holds people to ransom.

The unpacking started. Constant moaning, huffing and puffing. The energy was vile, to such an extent that my son, who has special needs, had to leave the house (in an area he didn’t know). He felt extremely distressed.

It was as if, because they had the money, they wanted any excuse not to finish the job. He literally threw the boxes down and stated he had had enough, when Lee (same name, who was with me), brought him up on his attitude. He was literally throwing his toys out of the cot, as well as the boxes.

The came the mirror. He told me that the mirror wouldn’t fit through the front door, it was “too big and heavy”. He was quite happy to pack it and take videos of it, however, not so keen to take it off the truck.

He got his tape measure out and spewed some random numbers insisting it wouldn’t fit through the door. I contacted the guy I bought the mirror from who said it would easily fit and 2 people can easily move it. When I stated this to L**, he screamed at me that “he knew best”.

When my friend Lee asked that he take the mirror off the van, and we would find people to bring it into the house, he called him a rather rude four letter word and told him to fetch the mirror from Southampton (bearing in mind we were now up North, near Newcastle).. and off he drove, with my mirror.

I then sent him a text telling him I would call the police and report him for theft.

He comes back, with his side kick. They take the mirror off the van and load it into the house, just like that! All that fuss for nothing. They managed to deliver it into the house, with no issues at all.

I then asked L** for a final invoice and complete breakdown of costs, ie he stated that I used 145 boxes, charged for 140 (as if he was doing me a favour), I counted them, there were 128 boxes in total.

After mentioning that I would be leaving a review, L** said I owed him MORE money, would invoice me and take me to small claims if I didn’t pay up.

As of today, I have had no invoice or breakdown of costs. I have been waiting 10 months.

I have a time dated screenshot of his Terms, which I see he has now updated. Be very careful.
      — the boxes were small, at a cost to him of 85p (easily found out as they were branded). He charged me £6 + VAT.
      — No bubble wrap in site, breakables were wrapped in paper.
      — My son’s drum kit was dumped upside down which was extremely upsetting for him.
      — My computer monitor was damaged.
      — Boxes were placed in wrong rooms, plenty were half empty or had one item in them.
I have photographic evidence for all of it, including video footage of him outside the house. I have never experienced such a diabolical service, ever, at one point I was shaking and in tear. Read the other negative reviews, the similarities are very revealing.

      You have been warned.

They have now left bad reviews on my google business page, that’s exactly what they threatened me with. Wonder how many others have been told the same and are too scared to leave an honest review?
